a tiny change.

Time for a little change of scenery. Hopefully the change will also make me write here more often, or at least more regularly. Apologies for the massive neglection lately.

A question though... is twitter a happening thing or not? I'm a bit confused, it seems that it is purely the domain of politicians at the moment, but could possibly be the next big thing. Or not. I don't really see the need for it myself, if one already has Facebook and a blog which it seems to be a mix between, but hey... may as well keep up with the times, right?

Bought a cute fan from an Asian junk store today. It was half price and hardly broke the bank at $1.75. It has pretty flowers and a touch of sparkly gold. Super.

I'm being a bit lazy at the moment... doing little, doing lots, writing little, writing lots... unfortunately it's not culminating in anything particularly constructive. Yet.

I bought something the other day that I am very excited about. I can't wait to share.

Things didn't go exactly to plan, and I ended up spending less than 12 hours in Amsterdam. But in that 12 hours I squeezed in a city tour, a visit to a photography exhibition and shopping! It was a really beautiful city, and the number of bikes shocked me - and that was after having lived in Denmark for five months!

That brings me up to date with all of the travel-related things. There are literally hundreds of photos on flickr that didn't make it to here, and if you ever want some ideas of things to do in the places I visited, let me know!

The first time I went to London I did all of the touristy things, and spent a lot of time in places where I couldn't really take photos, like the Tate gallerys and a absolutely fantastic Andy Warhol exhibition. London was pretty grey the two times I went. It's the sort of city that you can't really do alone and unguided - it would be handy to have someone in the know to show you around.

Hamburg was cheap and quick to get to by train from Denmark, so I got together a change of clothes and some rusty Deutsch, and took myself off for an overnight trip. I found it really visually interesting, especially Marktstrasse which was covered in street art, but also the new development area, and the giant monolithic bomb-shelter thing that could have held 17,000 people. This is only a few photos; there are lots more here. "Kan ich habe ein pretzel? Ja, ja! Danke Schon!"*

*Does not claim to be gramatically correct, or spelt right, for that matter. I'm pretty sure there is an umlaut on the 'o' in 'Schon', for example, but I cannot be bothered firing up Google Translate.

These were from my last days in Denmark. I got a little sentimental and started snapping everyday things. The clip machines, the post bike, the station, the bikes.

I miss it a lot, more than I thought I would.

There is too much happening in the now for me to be posting about the past. Today, the end of Prague, last days in Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam and London go up.

one year on and still going strong.

"I'm sure it will pass, but for the next few days, weeks, maybe longer, it is consuming me."
February 27, 2008.

It has been a little over a year since I fell under the spell of this band, and still not a day goes by when I don't listen to Interpol in some way, shape or form. It is impossible to describe the way my heart swells almost to the point of bursting when I am not expecting to hear the opening bars of a song, or how filled with joy I am at certain points in certain songs. It is strange, because their songs are not exactly joyous.

Carlos D, who I love, hate and am totally intrigued by has been working on a short film, and you can see the trailer and read more about it here. They are also currently penning new songs for their fourth album. I cannot WAIT.
